Have you participated in Miami Spice this year? Please share the good, the bad and the ugly with us below.

Ugh…August.

A hundred and three degrees in the shade, humidity in the 90% range and the threat of a hurricane or two or three.

Honestly, not the best time of year for a Miamian.

Enter Miami Spice, the restaurant promotion that showcases the best in Miami (Miami-Dade specifically) cuisine for 2 months from August 1 – September 30.

Suddenly, living in Miami-Dade in the dog days of August isn’t so bad.

If you’re not familiar with Miami Spice, don’t panic. The event, in its 11th year, is one of the biggest (if not THE biggest) restaurant promotion events in all of South Florida. It is organized by the Greater Miami Convention & Visitor’s Bureau.

Participating restaurants offer a fixed 3-course meal that ranges between $19-$23 for lunch and $33-$39 for dinner. Over 170 restaurants throughout Miami-Dade are participating in the event this year.

In short, it’s a great way to try new restaurants without paying full price.

For the first time ever, this year’s edition offers two categories of fixed price menus. Restaurants are categorized as either Luxury Dining or Fine Dining.

Luxury dining restaurants are offering three-course prix-fixe lunches for $23 per person. Dinners are $39 per person.

Fine dining restaurants offer lunch menus at $19 per person and $33 per person for dinner.

All Miami Spice menus include an appetizer, entrée and dessert as part of the fixed price. The fixed price does NOT include tax and gratuities.

Twenty six (26) Coral Gables restaurants are featured in Miami Spice 2012.
