Family Day on Aragon at Coral Gables Museum
If you haven’t had a chance to check out the Coral Gables Museum, don’t miss an opportunity to do so this Saturday during Family Day on Aragon.
Orchestra Miami will be performing “Red Dogs and Pink Skies: A Musical Celebration of Paul Gauguin”, a 45-minute piece scored for flute, clarinet, violin, cello, bass, percussion and conductor that aims to teach children about Paul Gauguin’s life and paintings, and the connections that exist between art and music.
The concert begins at 3:00 pm. However, children can enjoy free admission to exhibits and other art activities beginning at 1:00 pm.
The Coral Gables Museum consists of the original Police and Fire Station, a new 3,000 square foot gallery and a 5,000 square foot public plaza. It is LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Silver certified and was restored and constructed utilizing best environmental practices and materials. The additions to the existing building are sympathetic to the original design, which, according to the museum’s website, is a blending of “Depression Moderne” and Mediterranean Revival architectural styles.
The museum is located at 285 Aragon Ave at the intersection of Aragon Ave and Salzedo St.
